Continental Court and Coyne Valley Reconstruction 

Reconstruction of heavily used commercial road 

  • Redesign intersection and raising road surface to create proper drainage 

  • Recycled 4,910 square yards of asphalt  

  • 807 cubic yards of fill imported to adjust road surface elevation and correct drainage 

  • Eliminates hours of future annual repairs and material costs borne by R&B Operations 

  • Collaboration with Town of Breckenridge 

  • Private business cooperation with contractor to improve efficiencies throughout the project 

Safe Streets For All

  • $480,000 federal grant from the Department of Transportation

  • Awarded in October 2023

  • To develop a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan for Summit County, Blue River, Breckenridge, Frisco, and Silverthorne.

  • Will address multimodal transportation across the community, including safety of pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, and our local bus drivers and riders

  • Plan will account for increase in development, tourism, and local workforce population.

Design Projects

  • Completed conceptual level design of safety improvements and reconstruction of Swan Mountain Road

  • Began design of side path along Little Beaver Trail (SCR 50) - to be completed mid-2024

  • Began design of culvert replacement on Straight Creek Drive (SCR 58) to improve flood carrying capacity of crossing over Straight Creek, improve aquatic life habitat, and improve street level drainage and water quality - to be completed early 2024

Summer Maintenance

  • Culverts - 8 culverts were replaced this season equaling 240 feet of culvert. (Tordal Way, Lee Ln., Tanglewood, Montezuma, South Fueller Placer, Rena Rd., and 2 on Range Rd.)

  • Gravel Restoration 11 roadways got new gravel. 14,000 linear feet of gravel was laid down equaling over 5,000 tons of gravel. (Tordal Way, Lone Hand Way, Doris Dr., Ski Hill Rd., Elk Thistle Rd., CR 906, Snow Shoe Cir., CR 533, River Side Dr., River Side Ct.)

  • Grade & Mag (Dust Mitigation) - 800 man hrs., 90 applications, and 81,000 Gallons of Magnesium Chloride applied.

  • Guard Rail Repairs - 400’ of guard rail was repaired on multiple roads. 332 man hours (Ute Pass Rd., Swan Mtn. Rd., Dillon Dam Rd.).

  • Asphalt Patches - 1,100 tons of asphalt was put down this year on Swan Mtn. Rd. 2,298 man hours.

  • Spot Grading - 450 man hours throughout the county.

  • Rock Fall Mitigation - 500 man hours, 110 hours for Rock Scaling on Dillon Dam rd. the rest is to multiple locations for rocks coming down on the road ways. (Boreas Pass rd., Heeney Rd, Swan Mtn. rd., Dillon Dam Rd.)

  • Ditch Cleaning- 560 man hours cleaning drainages and flushing culverts.

  • Schedule A Roads (Forest Service Camp Grounds and roads) - 231 man hours for grading prior to the start of the camping season. Includes 138 hours spent opening Boreas Pass Road.

  • Sweeping - 400 man hours to sweeping up roadways after winter as well as rec path cleaning.
